History

Bookmark of the Ascension (Feodosievsky) Church, 1903

On April 10, 1902, a book recording the receipt and expenditure of money to the committee for the construction of a new church was issued from the Perm spiritual consistory. Significant amounts were donated for the construction of the church. Some amounts, from 30 to 200 rubles., The church received under the will of the citizens [1]

On May 13, 1903, a letter was issued by the Bishop of Perm and Solikamsky, John, on the laying of a new church. The place for construction was allocated and donated by the merchant Alexander Pavlovich Babalov. [2] On May 15, 1903, a temple was laid at the corner of Ekaterininskaya and Irbitskaya streets [3] . The project was made by A.I. Ozhegov .

In 1904, the building was completed and in the lower floor the throne was consecrated in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov . From 1904 to 1918 , the rector of the church was Stefan Mikhailovich Theological. During these years, the parish was one of the largest in Perm, the income of the temple was more than 8 thousand rubles. Then the community broke up in connection with the schism in the Russian Orthodox Church. There were two groups - " Grigorievtsy " and " Sergievtsy ". In 1927, part of the parishioners applied to the city executive committee with a request to register a new community.

The temple was in the hands of the so-called "Grigorievtsy", while the other part of the parishioners did not want to attend the temple because of their beliefs. In 1928, the city administration transferred the building to a more “trustworthy” community. In 1929, the "Grigorievtsy" already appealed to the authorities, but they were denied the return of the temple.

In 1930, it was decided to remove the building from the community of "Sergievtsy". At first there was a hostel in the building, and then it was rebuilt as a bakery [4] , which was put into operation in 1935 .

Our days

In the late 1970s, the city authorities removed the bakery from the church and began restoring the facades. It was planned to place an organ hall in the building. The restoration, however, dragged on very slowly.

In 1991, the church was returned to believers. Above the main entrance to the temple was a bas-relief with the face of the Savior. On April 8, 2004, the church building was complemented with architectural lighting. [five]

The appearance of the church is one of the most famous types of Perm.
