Biography
Marc del Castillo grew up in the Rio Grande River Valley , in the city of Brownsville (Texas). Inspired by the talent and successes of his older brother, Rica del Castillo , he independently began to learn to play the guitar at the age of 14 years. Mark did not practice guitar professionally until 1990 , when he entered the University of Texas at Brownsville. There, he studied music theory, solfeggio , practice of playing the guitar, and also joined the university's Latin / jazz band.
In 1991, Marc del Castillo became a member of a musical group called Kickstart and began to build a reputation as a guitarist . After more than three years of playing with Kickstart, Mark left the band to continue his education at the College of Life Sciences at the Texas Agricultural and Engineering University. While studying at college, he, along with several fellow students, founded a music group called Vivid . In 1996 , graduating from college, Mark and Vivid moved to Austin (Texas) and began to regularly perform concerts on the famous 6th Street, in various other cities in Texas , and even in Europe .
While playing in the Vivid band, Mark joined a rock band called Milhouse , where he first met Mike Zeoli (drummer of Del Castillo ). Milhouse's first CD was recorded and released by Mark's brother, Rick del Castillo . In this album, Mark demonstrated his mastery of playing the Spanish guitar in his instrumental composition entitled “Para Mija Linda”. Dedicated to his future wife, this song inspired Mark to further write Spanish guitar music. After composing several instrumental compositions, Mark began working with Alex Ruiz , who wrote the words for some of the tunes. Marc introduced these songs to his brother Rick, who, realizing that they had never worked together, suggested that the brothers del Castillo combine their creative abilities and talents. The brothers founded the Del Castillo group. [one]
Currently, Marc del Castillo continues to write songs and music and performs as a guitarist and vocalist with Del Castillo . Together with his brother and friends in the band Del Castillo, Mark is also a member of the Chingon band, a musical band created by director Robert Rodriguez .
Mark and Rick del Castillo are among the six musicians on the planet who participated in the presentation of the Gibson Dark Fire guitar. [2] The brothers showed off their new guitar at an event held at Antone's Club ( Austin, Texas ) on December 15, 2008.
