History
In 2000, Grigory Shenkman and Alec Miloslavsky, the founders of Genesys , which until recently belonged to Alcatel, created the Exigen Group. The company's specialization was the development of business process automation systems in the insurance and banking industries. As a result of successful management and a series of acquisitions of companies (the American Porter in 2002 [2] and the Latvian Dati Group 2004 [3] ), Exigen was able to demonstrate stable growth and expansion into new markets. In 2006, the custom software business was spun off into a separate company called Exigen Services. In 2007, it announced a merger with a company of the same profile StarSoft Development Labs [4] , which at that time had a network of branches in Russia and Ukraine. This association allowed Exigen Services to enter the first echelon of outsourcers specializing in custom software development from the post-Soviet space, in which Epam , Luxoft and IBA are located in addition to them.
In order to enter the Chinese market in 2009, Exigen Services acquired the local company Taihoo Technology, which specializes in the development of custom software.
Geographical position
The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California. Front offices are also located in New York , Brussels , London , Frankfurt , Stockholm and Copenhagen . The two largest development centers are located in Riga (a total of more than 750 people in 3 offices) and St. Petersburg (more than 500 people). In addition, there are also representative offices in Vilnius , Kazan , Nizhny Novgorod , Minsk , Dnepropetrovsk and Odessa (each numbering up to 100 people), as well as Suzhou (China). The office in Dubna [5] was liquidated almost simultaneously with the similar office of Luxoft in early 2009 [6] . The long-term plans of the company are to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Among other things, this has already led to the purchase of Chinese IT outsourcer Taihoo Technology [7] . The Suzhou development center expands the vertical specialization of the company through experience in implementing projects in a number of industries.
Technology and Methodology
Like any company of this level, Exigen Services has development experience in all modern technologies. Most of the available descriptions of projects completed by this company mention Java EE as the main technology, but both Russian and Latvian offices are Microsoft's gold partners, and in addition there are descriptions of projects executed on .NET technology [8] [to whom? ] that StarSoft has a rich history of applying agile development methodologies . In 2002, the first project using extreme programming was completed [9] ; in 2004, a joint project began with Dynix using the Scrum methodology . One of the founders of this methodology, Jeff Sutherland, in his 2006 article [10] , concluded that this project at that time was the most productive of known java projects of this size (about 1 million lines of code ).
One of the specific features of Exigen Services market positioning is the availability of so-called packages, that is, fixed-cost service packages. Among them are mentioned:
- Agile Readiness - a study of the company's readiness to apply agile development methodologies
- Flex-Agility - a way to set up an Agile project as a fixed-value contract
