The variety was bred in the Netherlands in the early 1990s . breeder Ingemar based on Brazilian and South Indian cannabis varieties. He gained world fame after becoming the winner of the Cannabis Cup '95 in the nomination Bio and the 8th International Hydroponic Cup . Currently, 12 new hybrids with similar properties have been developed on the basis of the White Widow.
