Introduced in 1904 and named after the Spanish conquistador Vasco Nunez de Balboa . Until 1934, the gold content of balboa was 1, 5048 g of pure gold, which was slightly higher than the gold content of the US dollar (1, 50463 g), but in fact, balboa was equal to the dollar. In 1934, a solid ratio to the US dollar was established 1: 1, which exists to date.
