Biography
In 1937 he entered the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University . Due to the outbreak of World War II, he was released ahead of schedule in October 1941. From 1941 to 1950 - in the ranks of the Red Army; participant of the Great Patriotic War. In 1944 he graduated from the Air Force Engineering Academy. N.E. Zhukovsky .
Since 1950, he worked at Rostov State University ; since 1959 he headed the department of elasticity theory of the RSU. In 1971 , he became director of the Scientific Research Institute of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics, which he now founded. [one]
In 2000, the asteroid 10049 Vorovich was named in honor of Vorovich [2] .
Scientific work
Scientific works relate to mathematical problems of continuum mechanics, nonlinear theory of shells, problems of stress concentration, mixed problems of elasticity theory, mathematical ecology. The author of more than 300 scientific papers and 14 monographs.
In 1970 , he was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the Department of Problems of Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics, and Control Processes; full member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1990
