Repeat is known from the first half of the 17th century . In the 1620s , he became the property of the patriarch Filaret - the father of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich .

The name is given along the Repets river on which it stands.

In Repce, in the second half of the 18th century , the Church of the Intercession of the Virgin was built ( Sight symbol black.svg architectural monument (regional) ). [2] It is made in the rococo style . Nearby is a church house, and around - an old park (dendrological monument of nature).

Repets from the 18th century belonged to the Kozhkin family. The Life Guards Captain-Lieutenant Semenovsky Regiment Joseph Ivanovich Kozhin (1714-1779) bought this estate in 1761. On the high right bank of the Repets River, he built a noble estate, as well as a church and park in the English style.

The landowner, a skilled and intelligent man, made every effort to increase his father's condition, as well as the condition inherited from his mother, the Moldavian princess. Tending to a high, educated society, in the 1750s he lived for several years in London, where he was a member of the circle of the most educated people of his time. He has been to dinner parties at the house of the artist Joshua Reynolds , the first director of the Royal Academy of Arts , who gathered the cream of English enlightenment. He talked with Samuel Johnson and David Garrick , whom he observed as King Lear in 1757, with whom he made close acquaintance and correspondence. Returning to Russia, he tried to put Shakespeare in his serfdom theater, having achieved certain successes. The level of training of his troupe can be judged by a very impressive repertoire, in which Hamlet and King Lear occupied a special place. His love of art and theater, and especially of the English tragedy of Shakespeare and Pope, was transmitted to posterity. He began, and his son, Ivan Iosifovich Kozhin (1749-1823), continued the construction of the estate on the banks of the Repets River. The house of the estate is under state protection [3] .

In the years 1849-50, the main house and church were visited by N.V. Gogol , who was closely acquainted with the landowners Kozhins (the wife of the then owner of the estate, P. N. Kozhin, was the cousin of the poet N. M. Yazykov , Lyudmila Dmitrievna). Gogol was deeply interested in the fate of St. Tikhon Zadonsky , studied his works a lot, and copied especially favorite places. In addition, the Kozhinsky family retained the memory of their famous ancestor, Makaria Kalyazinsky , whose figure was equally revered for a deeply religious writer. Having visited acquaintances, and having been in the estate for several days, he kept his way to Kaluga. Evidence has survived that Gogol carefully studied the “Ladder” by Tikhon Zadonsky and made detailed extracts from it. How deeply this spiritual image lived in the writer's mind, one can see, for example, in his dying words: “Ladder, hurry up, give the ladder! ..”. Similar words about the staircase before the death were said by St. Tikhon Zadonsky, one of Gogol's favorite writers, whose works he had re-read more than once [4] .
