Lev Nikolayevich Korolev ( September 6, 1926 , Podolsk - January 5, 2016 , Moscow [1] [2] ) - Soviet and Russian systems programmer and mathematician , Doctor of Technical Sciences (1967), head of the Department of Automation of Computer Systems of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, Moscow State University . Emeritus Professor of Moscow University (1996).

He was one of the scientists who laid the foundation for the development of programming and computer technology in the USSR .

Biography

Studying at the University

In 1943 he entered the first year of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov .

In 1944 he was drafted into the army [3] .

In 1952 he graduated with honors from Mehmat .

Machine Translation Systems

In 1956, Korolev developed a computer program for translating texts from English into Russian . In 1960, he defended his thesis on this subject.

Development of programs for the missile defense system

In 1967 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the basis of his developments for a computer system that supports the functioning of missile defense . In addition, Korolev developed mathematical software for controlling space flights, including Soyuz-Apollo flight.

OS development for BESM-6

In 1967, under the leadership of Korolyov, the Dispatcher-68 operating system was developed for the BESM-6 computer , which became the first Soviet multi - program operating system . In addition, the system supported paging memory with dynamic memory allocation, parallel operation of input-output devices. These studies significantly influenced the further development of domestic system programming.

Teaching

Korolev is the author of more than 70 scientific papers, including 10 monographs and study guides. He taught a course on supercomputer architecture at the faculty of the Naval Forces of Moscow State University . Among the students of Korolev there are two corresponding members of the RAS, more than 40 doctors and candidates of sciences.

He was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery [4] .
