Coins
In 1971, coins were introduced in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 bututs and 1 dalasi. The reverse drawings of the coins of three higher denominations repeat the design of the coins of the previous currency unit - the Gambian pound . In 1987, the face value 1 dalasi was added to the coin line.
Only coins of 25, 50 bututs and 1 dalasi remain in circulation now, although in 1998 new coins with a face value of 1, 5 and 10 bututs were issued [ specify ] .

Banknotes
In the 2001 series, banknotes of 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 dalasi were issued. The 1 dalasi banknote issued between 1971-1987 is no longer issued. In circulation were also used banknotes issued between 1996 and 2001.
July 27, 2006 The Central Bank of The Gambia announced the development of new banknote design [1] . In the 2006 series of banknotes, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 dalasi banknotes were issued. In February 2015, the bank announced the release of a new series of banknotes. Banknotes of the sample of 2015 were issued in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 dalasi.
