Coins

In 1971, coins were introduced in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 bututs and 1 dalasi. The reverse drawings of the coins of three higher denominations repeat the design of the coins of the previous currency unit - the Gambian pound . In 1987, the face value 1 dalasi was added to the coin line.

Only coins of 25, 50 bututs and 1 dalasi remain in circulation now, although in 1998 new coins with a face value of 1, 5 and 10 bututs were issued [ specify ] .
