Babakov, Alexander Mikhailovich

Born on February 8, 1963 in Chisinau . He graduated from school with a gold medal. At 16, he became a master of sports in table tennis .

In 1985 he graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University (MSU). M.V. Lomonosov (Department of Economics of Foreign Countries), was a member of the primary school of the Komsomol at the university, was engaged in Komsomol work. After graduation, he entered graduate school , defended his thesis on "State regulation of agricultural relations in developing countries", Ph.D.

In 1988, he worked at the Ascension Plant for the production and manufacture of leather ( Voznesensk , Nikolaev Region ).

From the beginning of the 1990s to December 2003, he was a member of the board of directors of the Ukrainian company Promsvyaz , which was engaged in the production of computer programs and supplied 90% of products to Ukrtelecom .

Since 1995, he has been the General Director of the Russian LLC Zapad-IK.

From 1998 to 2003, he was engaged in scientific and teaching activities at the Department of Economic Theory of Moscow State University. In 1994-2003 , he held the position of Director General of the investment company Zapad-IK.

Since December 1998 - Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Tempbank Commercial Bank (Moscow).

Since 2001 - Chairman of the Board of Directors and co-owner of the football club CSKA .

It is the majority shareholder of a number of Ukrainian energy enterprises, including Kyivoblenergo, Odessa Obleoblenergo, Zhytomyroblenergo, Sevastopolenergo, Kirovogradoblenergo, Khersonoblenergo, as well as the Kiev Premier Palace Hotel, Rus Hotel and Yalta Hotel Oreanda .

In the summer of 2003, he joined the Rodina Party and was elected a member of the Party’s Political Council.

On December 7, 2003, he was elected to the fourth convocation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on the all-federal list of the Rodina (People’s Patriotic Union) electoral association, ranked eighth in the list, was the head of the Just Russia faction - Rodina (People’s Patriotic Union), deputy Chairman of the Committee on Energy, Transport and Communications. April 4, 2006 was elected head of the Rodina faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

On July 13, 2006, the scientific director of the Institute for Globalization Problems Mikhail Delyagin , who had been expelled from the Motherland a few days before, urged former party comrades-in-arms to hold an extraordinary congress and clear the ranks of the Motherland from Babakov’s “anti-party group”. ^[3]

Leaving Fair Russia to the All-Russian Popular Front

July 21, 2011 there was information that Babakov left the Just Russia party and joined the United Russia Popular Front . ^[4] It was reported that he would take part in the Primaries of United Russia from the Perm Territory. An open appeal was given, which was distributed by Babakov:

When in 2006 my colleagues and I created Fair Russia on the basis of the Rodina party, we intended to become a constructive opposition to the party in power, its intellectual opponent. We saw the role of the center of new leftist ideas, whose main task would be to build a social state. We did not expect that in five years the party will be marginalized, will go into stiff opposition to the country's leadership ...

Not a single person who is aiming at constructive work, at work, can not be a party whose main content is the struggle for a place “under the sun”. We believe that the course chosen by the Just Russia party leadership for the war with United Russia is erroneous and that the Communist Party is the main political competitor of Just Russia as a party on the left side of the political spectrum. ^[five]
