Leaving Fair Russia to the All-Russian Popular Front

July 21, 2011 there was information that Babakov left the Just Russia party and joined the United Russia Popular Front . [4] It was reported that he would take part in the Primaries of United Russia from the Perm Territory. An open appeal was given, which was distributed by Babakov:

When in 2006 my colleagues and I created Fair Russia on the basis of the Rodina party, we intended to become a constructive opposition to the party in power, its intellectual opponent. We saw the role of the center of new leftist ideas, whose main task would be to build a social state. We did not expect that in five years the party will be marginalized, will go into stiff opposition to the country's leadership ...

Not a single person who is aiming at constructive work, at work, can not be a party whose main content is the struggle for a place “under the sun”. We believe that the course chosen by the Just Russia party leadership for the war with United Russia is erroneous and that the Communist Party is the main political competitor of Just Russia as a party on the left side of the political spectrum. [five]

Alexander Babakov himself was on vacation at that time. On the same day, Babakov’s colleagues in the Slovak Republic declared that this was misinformation [2]

However, the head of the Just Russia faction in the State Duma, Sergei Mironov, confirmed information about Babakov’s departure from the party.

“The departure of Mr. Babakov to the Popular Front is a logical step, and he was quite expected. And we at Fair Russia take this step on the part of our former colleague with joy ” [6]

Later, Babakov himself confirmed information about his withdrawal from Just Russia and joining the ONF [7]

Head of the ONF campaign headquarters Sergei Neverov :

The ONF is now the only site in the country that makes it possible to implement its initiatives. And the leaders of the opposition parties, first of all, Sergey Mironov, need to think about this if they want to have some prospects for their structures in the future. And not only to keep their own posts at all costs. So far, on the example of Alexander Babakov, we see that those to whom the future of the country is more important than high posts come to the ONF.

We hope that during the primaries he will be able to offer a bright, constructive program, come up with ideas that will improve life in the region and in the country as a whole. [eight]

December 4, 2011 Babakov was elected deputy of the State Duma of the VI convocation on the list of the party " United Russia ". [9]

In 2014, it was included in the EU sanctions list due to the actions of the Russian Federation in Crimea [10] .

In 2016, Alexander Babakov did not enter the list of participants in the primaries of United Russia before the recent parliamentary elections [11] .
