Igor Netto Club is a symbolic club uniting Soviet and Russian football players who played 50 or more matches for the national teams of the USSR , CIS and Russia over their careers. The origins of the Club were journalist Alexander Vladykin and lawyer, football statistician from Vilnius Vladimir Chudakov. It was first created on the initiative of the Soviet Sport newspaper on January 8, 1988 and named after midfielder Igor Netto , the first to reach 50 matches for the USSR national team on June 3, 1962 . The first football player to reach the milestone of 100 matches for the national team was January 22, 1986 in a friendly match with Spain (0-2), Oleg Blokhin, USSR national team forward [1] .
