Biography

Educated at the 1st Moscow Military Grammar School . He entered the service on 05.08.1870. He graduated from the 3rd military Alexander and Mikhailovsky artillery schools (1873). Issued by second lieutenant (Art. 10.08.1873) to the 1st Horse-Artillery Brigade. Later he served in the 2nd equestrian artillery brigade. Lieutenant (Art. 08.12.1876).

Member of the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878 . Headquarters Captain (Art. 18.12.1880). In 1882 he graduated from the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff in the first category. Captain (v. 04.04.1882). Consisted of the Vilna Military District . Since November 24, 1882 - Senior Adjutant to the Headquarters of the 4th Cavalry Division . Qualified command of the squadron was serving in the 10th Dragoon Yekaterinoslav Regiment (09.25.1884 - 09.29.1886). Lieutenant Colonel (Article 24.03.1885). From September 29, 1886, it was at the disposal of the chief of staff of the Vilna Military District. Since February 6, 1889 - head of the troop movement on the railway and waterways of the Vilnius region. Colonel (Art. 09.04.1889). Since April 19, 1890 - Chief of Staff of the 2nd Cavalry Division . Since January 7, 1891, he was the head of the Elisavetgrad Cavalry Cadet School . Since June 12, 1896 - commander of the 4th Life-Dragoon Pskov Regiment . Major General (Article 23.06.1899). Since June 23, 1899 - general for assignments under the Military Ataman of the Don Army . Since September 20, 1900 - Head of the Military Communications of the Warsaw Military District . Since November 9, 1906 - Chief of Staff of the Vilna Military District. Lieutenant General (Article 06.12.1905). Since October 9, 1906 - Head of the 1st Cavalry Division . Since March 9, 1911 - commander of the 5th Army Corps . General of the cavalry (12/06/1911).

At the head of the corps ( 7th and 10th infantry divisions ) he entered the First World War as part of the 5th Army . At a meeting of the command staff in Siedlec on 11/17/1914 he was appointed commander of the 1st Army (instead of the dismissed general P.K. Rennenkampf ; officially - 12/05/1914). After the February Revolution on April 2, 1917 he was dismissed from service with a uniform and pension. Since 1918 in the Red Army .
