Biography
Vladimir Polonsky was born in Tobolsk into a Jewish family. From burghers. Born Reuven Gershevich Polonsky. Member of the RSDLP since 1907. From 1908 he worked as a sailor, a laborer, from 1912 an electrician in St. Petersburg . He led the party work in trade unions, in 1913 a member of the Central Board of the St. Petersburg Union of Metalworkers. In 1914 he was arrested, in 1915 he was sentenced to administrative expulsion to Tobolsk province . From March 1917, Secretary of the Central Board of the Moscow Union of Metalworkers; participant of the October fights in Moscow. In 1930 and in 1935–37, the secretary of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions . In 1930–33, the 1st secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan , at the same time secretary of the Transcaucasian Regional Committee of the CPSU (b). From January 1933, head of the organizational department of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b), since August - the head of the political department and the deputy people's commissar of the NKPS . Since 1937, deputy people's commissar of communications of the USSR . Delegate of the 11-17th Party Congress, candidate member of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) (1927—1937). Member of the CEC of the USSR . In the spring of 1937 arrested. The exit session of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court sentenced to death. Shot on October 30, 1937 . The corpse is cremated in the Donskoy Monastery. In 1958 rehabilitated.
