Club career
From the age of 12, Ryushtu began to study at the school of the Korkutelispor football club from his hometown and after three years managed to break through to the Antalyaspor . At the beginning, Rechber was only the third goalkeeper of the team serving in the First League (the second division of Turkish football) and in the first five years of his professional career there appeared a few times in the field. Despite this, the ability of a young footballer was soon appreciated by one of the best Turkish coaches, Fatih Terim , who predicted him an outstanding career.
The situation changed in the summer of 1993, when one of the grandees of Turkish football, Fenerbahce , signed a contract with the goalkeeper. The Istanbul club decided to leave Ryushtu in Antalyaspor on loan, after which the coaching staff decided to try the goalkeeper as the first number. Rechber managed to take advantage of the chance, having consistently won back the season, and his club received a long-awaited ticket to the Super League . It is noteworthy that Rechber’s career could have been different: shortly before signing a contract with Fener, he could have become a Galatasaray player, but before signing a contract he was involved in a car accident and could not undergo a medical examination, after which the transition was thwarted.
Once in the Istanbul team, Ryushtu initially became the second goalkeeper of the team, but in the spring of 1995 the main goalkeeper Engin Ipekoglu was injured and Retschber took his place at the gate. Over the next eight seasons, Rechber was already the undisputed player in the starting lineup and one of the team leaders. It is noteworthy that the goalkeeper had a rather colorful appearance: his long hair and battle coloring under his eyes made him one of the most visible players on the field. Possessing a good reaction and jumping ability, Ryushtu often pleased the audience with incredible saves. The other side of Rechber's game was funny goals, which he missed quite often (jumping out of his own gates during the match), as well as temper of character (for example, in the Champions League qualifying match against Scottish Rangers , the boxer put Michael Boxer on the lawn Mole , who had a squabble with the players of Istanbul). Rechber's game helped the club twice become the champion of Turkey, and in 2001 he was recognized as the best player in the country.
In the summer of 2003, Ryushtu signed a contract with Barcelona , whose head coach Frank Rijkaard characterized him as the best best goalkeeper in the world. However, in the very first matches held, the Turks made several successful mistakes, after which he sat down on the bench, losing the competition to Victor Valdez .
Already in the winter break, Rechber returned to Fenerbahce, where he again became the main goalkeeper. During this time, he helped the club win three more championship titles. In 2007, Ryushtu expired of the contract, which he wanted to extend on improved terms, but was refused by the club management. This predetermined the goalkeeper's departure from the club, in terms of the number of matches for which he ranks fifth (having played 447 matches for Fener).
The next club in Rechber’s career was Besiktas , a principled opponent of Fenerbahce. Here Ryushtu won another championship title, as well as two Turkish Cups . During the first three seasons, he was the main goalkeeper of the team, but since 2010 he began to lose the competition to the younger Jenku Gonen . In the spring of 2012, Rechber decided to end his playing career. It is noteworthy that the footballer managed to earn the respect of the fans of Besiktas, despite the longstanding past as part of a principled opponent (as for the fans of the yellow canaries, they also maintained a neutral attitude towards the goalkeeper, but could not forgive his transition).
Team
During the year, Rechber played in the youth team of Turkey , and in 1994 he made his debut in the main team , immediately becoming its main goalkeeper. Euro-1996 and 2000 became the first tournaments for Ryushtu, but they didn’t bring much fame either to the national team or to its goalkeeper.
Otherwise, the 2002 Far Eastern World Cup was formed . On it, the Turkish national team showed the best result in its history, sensationally reaching the semi-finals of the tournament and taking the honorable third place. Rechber at the tournament managed to defend three times "to zero", including in the most important playoff matches against teams of Japan and Senegal . Moreover, in the match with the Senegalese, it was the goalkeeper who began the scoring attack, which was completed by Ilkhan Mansyz . At the end of the tournament, Rechber, along with Oliver Kahn, entered his symbolic team. The 2003 Confederations Cup also ended with the conquest of bronze medals for the Turks.
The next (and last) tournament for the national team for Ryushtu was Euro 2008 , to which the 35-year-old goalkeeper was driving as a second number. However, in the quarterfinal match with Croatia, he had to take the place of a distant Volkan Demirel . In this match Rechber made several saves, but it was his mistake that led to the goal of Ivan Klasnic . However, the goalkeeper managed to compensate for his mistake in the penalty shootout , reflecting the blow of Mladen Petritsch , which brought his team a ticket to the semifinals. At the semi-final match with the Germans, Ryushtyu not only came out in the starting lineup, but also received a captain's armband. The match ended with the defeat of the Turks with a score of 2: 3, after which Rechber decided to end his international career.
However, in May 2012, a friendly match with the Finnish national team was organized especially for Rechber, which became a farewell for him. In it, Ryushtu played 40 minutes and reached the number of 120 matches for the national team. By this indicator, he is a champion.
