Shcheplevo is a village in the Smolensk region of Russia , in the Elninsky district . Population - 1 resident (2007) [1] Located in the south-eastern part of the region 7 km south-west of the city of Yelnya , 5 km south of the highway P96 Novoaleksandrovsky (A101) - Spas-Demensk - Yelnya - Pochinok , 5 , 5 km west of the R137 Safonovo - Roslavl highway. 8.5 km north of the village is the railway station Demshchino on the Smolensk - Sukhinichi line . Included in the Leonidovsky rural settlement.

History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was the site of fierce fighting and was twice occupied by Nazi troops. The first time in July 1941 (released during the Yelninsk operation ), the second time in October 1941 (released during the Yelninsk-Dorogobuzh operation in 1943 ). [2] , [3] .
