The eclipse will begin in the northeast of the Taimyr Peninsula ( Russia ), pass through the Arctic Ocean near the North Pole , the island of Greenland , then cross Iceland and enter Spain .

A total eclipse can be observed in Russia (the previous one could be seen on March 20, 2015 ), Iceland (after the eclipse ) and Spain (after the eclipse ), and also partially in Portugal in the north-east of the country (after the eclipse ). The next total eclipse in the territory of these countries can be observed on March 30, 2033, June 26, 2196 [1] (ring-shaped - June 11, 2048 ), August 2, 2027, and respectively.

This eclipse is a repetition through saros of a total solar eclipse on August 1, 2008 . The next eclipse of this saros will occur on August 23, 2044 .
