The station was opened on July 10, 1981 at the end of the Lomonosovskaya -Obukhovo section.
The name was obtained by location near the eponymous historical district of the city. This area is located beyond the line of the main passage of the Oktyabrskaya Railway - the metro pavilion faces the facade where the workers of the Obukhov factory once lived. The plant itself is located in the vicinity of the Proletarskaya metro station. The name was given to the enterprise in 1869 by the name of the founder of the engineer Pavel Matveevich Obukhov .
From the station, a transfer is made to the railway station of the same name . The station is located away from large residential areas and has a small passenger flow.

Ground structures
The station pavilion was designed by architects A. S. Getskin , V. N. Vydrin ( Lenmetrogiprotrans ) and is located at the end of Gribakin Street near the Obukhovo railway station in the industrial zone of the Zvezda association.
The lobby is an octagonal volume, in the center of which an escalator hall is located under the dome, and along the perimeter there is an entrance hall with two entrances and one exit. The architectural solution of the facade planes is based on a combination of blind walls lined with polished marble and stained-glass windows . The binding details are made of decorative metal and anodized in golden color. In the interior decoration used similar techniques and materials.
Underground Structures
Obukhovo is a single-vault deep-laying station (depth ≈ 58 m). The third time in the metro opening and the only one-vault station on the Nevsky-Vasileostrovskaya line. For the first time on this type of station, under the same arch, in addition to the station itself, a power traction substation and a chamber of tensioning devices, which were previously created separately, were placed. The underground hall was designed by architects V.V. Popov , I.N. Kuskov , L.M. Chetyrkin with the participation of I.G. Lokhanov and M.V. Mekkel (workshop No. 16 of LenNIIproekt).
The chief engineer of the project is Kononchuk G.P. (LMGT).
The track walls are faced with white marble with a cornice from a decorative profile. The floor is tiled with dark gray granite slabs. On the axis of the station hall, floor lamps made of hammered copper and shaped metal are installed. The name of the station is also made of dark metal. After replacing the lighting, it became almost unreadable.
In the middle of the station there are benches with the letter “P” with a gap directed towards a blank wall.
Station Design Ideas
The decoration of the station is dedicated to the theme of the revolutionary traditions of the Neva Outpost. In 1901 there was a strike of the factory workers, this action of disobedience was carried out by the revolutionary circles that existed here. The memory of this event became the main theme of the design of the underground hall of the station: the end wall is decorated with a bronze high relief “From Marxist circles to revolutionary action”. It reflects the theme of the emergence of revolutionary circles beyond the Neva outpost . The author of the composition is the sculptor A. A. Fedosov.
A portrait of V.I. Lenin is placed in the center of the high relief; a three-fragment composition is located below.
However, initially it was planned to make a slightly different thematic composition at the end. In 1984, a bust of V. I. Lenin, as well as numerous bas-reliefs and high reliefs [1] were created by the workshops of the Leningrad Experimental Sculpture and Production Plant. These works reflected various heroic episodes of the revolutionary struggle of the Obukhovites and workers of the Neva outpost with the autocracy. The author of the whole composition was the sculptor A. A. Fedosov. The bust of Lenin was dismantled in 1994 .
An inclined course (exit from the station) containing three escalators is located at the southern end of the station. Like the station hall, the lower escalator hall is faced with marble. For lighting, wall lamps and cornice lighting are used.
Project and Station Features
- Originally [ when? ] they planned to build a station above ground, and after it to build a depot. However, due to a methane explosion in the face during the tunnel from Lomonosovskaya, the line had to be urgently taken to the side - because of this (and also because of the growth of the city in the south), the Obukhovo station had to be built deep, and the depot - in Rybatsky.
- On the stretch towards the Proletarskaya station, the tunnel passes through the layers of water sandstone, so the penetration rate of this stretch was lower than others. On this stage, in the vicinity of the Proletarskaya station, a rock fell out [1] .
- On the stage towards the Rybatskoye station, the maximum allowable slopes were used. This is due to the fact that deep-laid paths are brought to the surface. In addition, a feature of the construction of the stage was that the part of the stage distant from the station was constructed in an open way [1] .
