History
Soviet period
The club was founded in 1960 as FC “Ararat” from the city of the same name (not to be confused with “Ararat” Yerevan ).
Post-Soviet Time
In the recent history of Armenian football, the club, in the formation of the divisions, ended up in the first league . The championship in the first league was like the Higher, which consisted of two stages. Called at that time FC Ararat, the club took second place and went through the second stage for 1-6 places. After a technical defeat to their direct competitor Aragatsu, the team nonetheless won the remaining 9 games and took 1st place in the table. In the same season, the team held one match for the Cup against Banants - 0: 6.
The club did not fall below 6th place. In 1998, Varuzhan Sukiasyan , with whom he takes a double, took over the team. At first, the Cup was won, and after - the gold of the Armenian Championship , which became the first for the club and for the coach. The following year, another double was made consisting of victories in the Cup , and in the final of the Super Cup against Chirac , where everything was decided in the penalty shoot-out. In the championship, the team performed less successfully winning the bronze championship. However, Sukiasyan did not finish the season and left the club two months before the end.
Arax
In 2000 , the club changed its name to Araks. Samvel Petrosyan is appointed as the head coach. The team fought for gold medals and a cup, but Petrosyan was not able to win the Cup, and in the middle of the season he completely left the camp of the townspeople. In June 2000, Varuzhan Sukiasyan returned to the club. As a result, under the leadership of Sukiasyan, the team, now called “Araks”, again won the championship gold medals. After the gained fame, he left the club. The owners of the club, after a series of successful seasons, decide to move from Ararat to Yerevan .
Spartak
At the beginning of the championship, in April 2001, Sukiasyan returned to the club for the third (and last) time. By this time, the club was already called "Spartak" stationed in Yerevan. After spending 4 months as head coach, Sukiasyan left the club.
The club was funded from the same source as Banants (the president of both clubs was Sarkis Israelyan ), so it was decided to combine Spartak and Banants into one club. Only the problem of the name of the future team arose. As a result, they found a compromise: which team will perform better in the championship, the name and the future club will receive. Banants performed better.
A little earlier, in 2000 , “Araks” Ararat was restored in the city of Ararat , but its performance will begin at a lower rank. Since the revival, the club has fallen into a financial crisis, from which it has not departed. In 2005, the club disbanded.
