Vasily Panin died in the Kazan campaign (1530) [1] .

Nikita Panin at the third wedding of Ivan the Terrible (1572) carried a lantern in front of the Emperor, and Little Panin was a clerk in the same year .

The clerks of Ivan the Terrible were: Thomas, Fedor and Andrey Menshov, Lukyan, Menshoy Pankratiev, Dmitry and Semyon Matveevichi, Fedor the Fifth, Zhdan and Ivan Davydovich Panin (1573) [2] .

The noble family of the Panins comes from Ivan Ivanovich Panin for the service of the majestic local salary (1668) [1] .

The Panin clan, which was divided into three branches, was included in the V and VI part of the genealogy books of Vladimir , Moscow [3] , Smolensk , Kaluga [4] and Tver provinces.

In the Russian Empire there were also two noble families of Panins of a later origin. [five]

Counts of Panin

Count Panin descended from an ancient noble family from the Lucca republic, whose ancestors left for Russia in the XIV century, during the reign of the tsars and grand dukes Mikhail Fedorovich and Alexei Mikhailovich [1] .

By the highest decree of September 22, 1767, General-General Peter and Actual Privy Councilor Nikita Ivanovich Panin, Empress Catherine II , were elevated to the count dignity of the Russian Empire. Certificate of Merit for the Title P.I. Panin was issued on December 23, 1786 [6] [1] .

Famous Representatives

  • Count Nikita Ivanovich (1718-1783) - the chief politician of Catherine II , mentor of Grand Duke Pavel Petrovich .
  • Count Pyotr Ivanovich (1721-1789) - commander, famous for the capture of Bender and the capture of Pugachev .
  • His son Count Nikita Petrovich (1770-1837) - envoy in Berlin, favorite of Paul I and his vice chancellor in his 29th year of life; plotter against his patron .
    • Count Victor Nikitich (1801-1874) - Minister of Justice for three decades, the last Count Panin.
      • The grand condition of the Panins was inherited by his granddaughter Sofya (1870-1956), the wife of Alexander Alexandrovich Polovtsov [7]
      • Count Alexander Nikitich - (1791-1850) - the elder brother of Viktor Nikitich, a large landowner.

After the death (1874) of the last Count Panin, the husbands of several of his heirs tried to inherit the count title, but nothing came of it [8]

In the Herbovnik of Anisim Titovich Knyazev of 1785 there is an image of two seals with the arms of representatives of the Panin clan:

  1. The coat of arms, subsequently of the count, Nikita Ivanovich Panin : the shield, located on the order star, is divided horizontally, with a wide golden stripe, dividing the shield into two blue parts, in which one silver dolphin is depicted. The shield is crowned with a noble helmet with a noble crown on it. Crest : three ostrich feathers. Around the shield there is an order ribbon with three orders, of which the central order of St. Andrew the First-Called . Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called with the order. The motto << FOR FAITH AND FAITHFULLY >>.
  2. Coat of arms of Count Pyotr Ivanovich Panin : the shield, located on the star of the order, is divided horizontally, with a wide golden stripe, dividing the shield into two blue parts, in which one silver dolphin is depicted. The shield is crowned with a crown of count's dignity (count's helmet, crest and litter are absent). Around the shield is an order ribbon with two orders. Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called with the order [6] .

In a shield with a blue field, two silver whales are depicted one above the other, separated by a horizontal golden stripe.

An ordinary count's crown is put on the shield, on which three tournament helmets are placed. The middle of them is crowned and holds a black two-headed eagle with two golden crowns. The helmet on the right side is decorated with ostrich feathers, and on the left - a noble crown. Bast of blue color, lined with silver [9] .

  • Panin Ivan Vasilievich (1673-1736) rose a lot due to marriage with Agrafena Vasilievna Everlakova, whose mother Tatyana Danilovna, as stated in the pre-revolutionary publications, was the sister of His Holiness Prince A.
