Writing
If the letter м is followed by the aliph ا , then the ligature لا is used instead of لـا .
Unlike other ligatures that are found in Arabic texts, Lam-Alif is a mandatory ligature. This rule applies even when the aliph is accompanied by a hamza or madda : ( لأ لإ لآ ). In the middle and at the end of the word, the ligature looks like this: ﻶ (here with Madda).

Unicode
The Arabic keyboard has a special key for لا . If ل and ا are packed separately, then the program automatically creates a lamb-alif ligature. Unicode has separate codes: for isolated use ( U+FEFB ) and for the end of a word ( U+FEFC ). When properly configured, they are displayed identically to the sequence + lyam + alif.
