Vyshkov , Vyshkov ( czech. Vyškov ), in German Visau ( German Wischau ) is a city in the Czech Republic in the historical region of Moravia . The administrative center of the district is Vishkov of the South Moravian region with a population of 22.5 thousand inhabitants.

History
Vishkov was first mentioned in 1141 and until the 18th century it belonged to the bishopric of Olomouc . From the 13th century, Vishkov was the center of German settlers, who from the 19th century gradually assimilated. Until 2004, a military school of the Czech army was located in Vyskov. Since 2004, the Institute of Defense against Weapons of Mass Destruction of the University of Defense has been operating in the city.
