From 1695 , he sang in the troupe under the direction of Henry Purcell ; later also worked closely with Georg Friedrich Höndel . In 1697 he released the first collection of songs. The author of the part of the once popular musical arrangement to Macbeth . He is also the author of music for some poems of Shakespeare and a comic opera based on "A Midsummer Night's Sleep," entitled The Comick Masque of Pyramus and Thisbe . The opera was shown at Lincoln's Inn Fields in 1716 .
