The boat was laid down on June 26, 1943 at the shipyard of the shipbuilding company AG Weser , Bremen , under building number 1087, was launched on January 11, 1944, and on April 19, 1944, under the command of Captain-Lieutenant Erwin Manshena, it became part of the 4th Flotilla training. February 1, 1945 became part of the 33rd flotilla . The boat made one combat campaign, damaged one ship with a displacement of 8,537 gross . Drowned on April 30, 1945 east of Cape Hatteras , USA , in an area with coordinates depth charges from USS Natchez patrol frigate and USS Coffmann , USS Bostwick and USS Thomas US escort destroyers. All 52 crew members were killed.
