The boat was laid down on October 31, 1942 at the shipyard of the shipbuilding company AG Weser , Bremen under building number 1062, launched on May 11, 1943, and on August 19, 1943, under the command of Oberleutant Friedrich Wittenberg, it became part of the 4th Flotilla training. March 1, 1944 became part of the 2nd Flotilla . The boat made one military campaign, success was not achieved. Drowned on April 7, 1944 in the North Atlantic east of New York , in the area with coordinates depth charges with the USS Champlin and the USS Huse . 27 crew members were killed, 28 were saved.
