The boat was laid down on December 1, 1941 at the shipyard of the Seebeck shipbuilding company in Bremen under building number 360, launched on October 31, 1942, and was assigned to the 4th Flotilla on May 16, 1943 . On June 12, 1943, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Rolf Steinhaus, it became part of the 4th Flotilla training. February 1, 1944 became part of the 2nd Flotilla . December 1, 1944 became part of the 33rd flotilla .
