Qualification

Eligible countries. Winner countries are highlighted in gold, countries eligible to participate but never participated are marked in red.

Countries of non-European continents, whose national federations are members of the ISU, have the right to take part in the championship. Each participating country has the right to apply for the competition of three participants or duets at the discretion of the National Figure Skating Federation. As with other ISU tournaments, athletes must be over 15 years old as of July 1 of the year preceding the current one.

The following countries are now eligible to send their athletes to the championship: Australia , Argentina , Brazil , Hong Kong , Grenada , India , Canada , Kazakhstan , China , Taiwan , DPRK , Malaysia , Mexico , Mongolia , New Zealand , Puerto Rico , Republic of Korea , Singapore , USA , Thailand , Philippines , Uzbekistan , South Africa and Japan .

Starting from the 2010–2011 season, some participants must be qualified to obtain admission to the short program / dance. How many participants / couples directly from each country will enter the competition, and how many will qualify before the tournament, is determined by the following principle: as many participants can directly enter the first segment of the competition, as many of their representatives were in the first 18 places of singles or 12 in paired disciplines of the previous championship.

The remaining participants perform their free programs (dances) in the qualification segment, and of these, the first 10 places of singles, 6 pairs and 8 dance duets are allowed before the main competitions. [1] However, a year later this decision was quashed.
