Career
Spiropoulos began playing in 2001 for the Ioannina Football Club; having played in the team for 3 seasons, the player was noticed by the scouts of the Panionios club. However, his transfer was purchased by the Panathinaikos club, but the player was found to have a prohibited drug in his blood, and Spiropoulos received two years of disqualification. Then the availability of the drug was explained by natural reasons, the disqualification was canceled, and a year later the player moved to Panionios, where he showed an excellent game. He showed great skill and talent and was considered one of the best left-backs in Greece. In 2007, he was spotted by the national team coaching staff and invited to the squad.
On November 17, 2007, he made his national team debut in a match against Malta . Nikos came on as a 46-minute substitute with the score 5-0 in favor of the Greek national team.
