Club

Italian origin .

Benallo began his career in his native Grasshopper from Zurich . In 2002, the Swiss moved to Stuttgart , but for 3 seasons he never played a single match for the main team, playing only for Stuttgart II .

In 2005, Benaglio moved to the Portuguese Nacional .

February 22, 2008 Benallo moved to Wolfsburg , signing a contract until 2012 [2] . In October 2009, the contract was extended for another year [3] . On April 28, 2012, Benaglio extended the contract with Wolfsburg until 2017 [4] , and in August became the team captain [5] . In August 2016, Diego extended the contract with the club until 2019 [6] .

On June 16, 2017, Benaglio moved to Monaco , signing a contract until 2020 [7] .

National

In 2006, Benaglio received a call to the 2006 World Cup , where he was listed as the third goalkeeper of the Swiss national team .
