Biography
Club career
Marcus Albek's career began at Ergruet Club from his hometown of Gothenburg . From there he went to the Danish Lyngby , then to the club of the Italian Serie B Bari , but did not gain a foothold in either one or the other, and in 1999 he returned to Ergruet.
In 2000, Albek made a new attempt to move to a more prestigious championship and moved to the Dutch Heerenveen , where he played 48 games in two seasons and scored 25 goals. In 2002, he moved to the English Aston Villa . In the 2004/2005 season, Albeck played for the Hansa from Rostock , and in the summer of 2005 moved to Copenhagen .
On November 1, 2006, Albek scored the first ever Copenhagen goal in the Champions League against Manchester United (Copenhagen sensationally won this match). Even before this, Albek’s goal secured the club a victory over the Jerusalem “ Beitar ” in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, which allowed “Copenhagen” to get into the main stage of this tournament for the first time; after the match with Manchester, Marcus scored two more goals in the Champions League ( Benfica and Celtic ). Albek was named the best player of the 2006/2007 season by Copenhagen fans.
On July 1, 2008, after an eight-year break, Albek returned to Ergruet, who played in the second division of the Swedish championship [1] . In December 2009, he announced the end of his career as a football player [2] . Then, Albek became an assistant coach to Eric Hamren in the Swedish national team [3] . On October 15, 2011, Albek briefly resumed his playing career and again entered the field with Ergruet for the match of the third division of the Swedish championship against the Mutala club [4] .
Team Career
Albek made his debut as part of the national team of Sweden on November 27, 1999 in a friendly match with the team of South Africa . He twice participated in world championships - in 2002 and 2006 , having played four matches each. At a championship in Germany in 2006, Albeck scored a goal against England on June 20, which became 2000 in the history of world championships. He also participated in three European championships : 2000 , 2004 and 2008 , in which he spent 5 games and scored 1 goal. After the 2008 European Championships, Albek announced that he was stopping playing for the national team [5] . In total, he played for the national team of Sweden 74 matches, in which he scored 30 goals.
