Langer, Siegfried

Siegfried Langer ( German: Siegfried Langer ; September 1, 1857 , Merish-Aussee , now Czech Republic - 1882 ) is an Austrian orientalist of Jewish origin.

In 1879 - 1881 studied various disciplines at the University of Vienna , including studied under D. G. Müller .

In 1881 he went on a research expedition to the Middle East. After spending six months in As Salta , he moved south of the Arabian Peninsula.

In March 1882 he headed from Hodeida to Sana'a , then to Aden , which he left on May 20, heading inland. He was killed in late May or early June.

During the expedition, Langer managed to collect 22 South Arab inscriptions, which his teacher Muller published in the book “Report on the journey of Siegfried Langer to Syria and Arabia” ( German: Siegfried Langers Reiseberichte aus Syrien und Arabien ; Leipzig, 1883).
