Matsushima ( 松 島 , lit. "Pine Islands") is a group of islands in Miyagi Prefecture , Japan . There are about 260 small islands ( sima , yap. 島 ) covered with pine trees ( matzu , yap. 松 ). Matsushima is considered one of the three famous landscapes of Japan .
