Ganii Evgenievich Ageev ( October 30, 1929 - January 11, 1994 ) - Soviet statesman and political figure, Colonel General (12/18/1986), Deputy Chairman of the KGB of the USSR (1983-1990), First Deputy Chairman of the KGB of the USSR (August 8, 1990 - August 28 1991 [1] ). In 1990-1993 - People's Deputy of the RSFSR.

Biography
Born in the family of a collective farmer. He graduated from the Irkutsk Mining and Metallurgical Institute (1952). Member of the CPSU since May 1952.
In 1952-1955 - in various positions in the Irkutsk regional committee of the Komsomol .
In 1955-1961 - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee for the Construction of the Bratsk Hydroelectric Power Station .
In 1961-1963 - 1st Secretary of the Kirov District Committee of the CPSU, in 1963-1965 - 2nd Secretary of the Irkutsk City Committee of the CPSU.
in 1965-1967 - deputy chief, in 1967-1973 - chief of the KGB in the Irkutsk region [2] [3] .
In 1973-1974 - head of the KGB personnel department (replaced by Lezhepekov, Vasily Yakovlevich ), in 1974-1981 - secretary of the party committee of the central apparatus of the KGB, in 1981-1983 - head of the 4th (transport) department of the KGB, in 1983-1985 - head KGB personnel management.
From December 5, 1985 to August 8, 1990 - Deputy Chairman of the KGB of the USSR. From August 8, 1990 to August 28, 1991 [1] - 1st Deputy Chairman of the KGB of the USSR.
During the Emergency Committee, he directly supervised the isolation of President of the USSR M.S. Gorbachev in Foros. After the coup failed, the Supreme Council agreed to the arrest of G. E. Ageev, but he fell ill and went to hospital. Dismissed from the KGB for active support of the Emergency Committee. At the trial in the GKChP case, it was stated that no decision had been taken to storm the Supreme Council of the RSFSR.
A candidate member of the Central Committee of the CPSU (1986-1990) [4] .
In March 1990, he was elected People's Deputy of the RSFSR from the Kabardino-Balkarian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
Despite the operation performed on coronary artery bypass grafting , he died in January 1994.
He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow [5] .
Daughters: Elena Klimenkova (born 1954) and Olga Ageeva (born 1956), Doctor of Historical Sciences (2007) [6] .
