Paris Chinatown or the Asian Quarter ( French quartier asiatique de Paris ) is located in the 13th arrondissement of the French capital around the avenues of Ivry and avenue de Choisy .
It is the largest Asian quarter in Europe . Residents of the quarter - mostly immigrants from Vietnam , China , Laos and Cambodia , as well as Chinese from French Polynesia and French Guiana , Vietnamese from New Caledonia - form the local Asian community.
History
In the 1920s, Chinese students who lived in the 13th arrondissement created the French section of the Chinese Communist Party.
The first in empty high-rise buildings, called the Olympics, the 13th arrondissement of Paris settled in the early 1980s. commune of faithful Vietnamese ( des Theochew ), forced to leave communist Vietnam.
