Scolomend

Skolomend is presumably the ancestor (grandfather?) Of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas , known according to Andrei Olgerdovich , quoted in Zadonshchina :

"To Molodyash Andrei Olgordovich to his brother: “Brother Dmitriy , we myself are two brothers, s (s) n (o) ve Olgordovs, and we are Domenov’s grandchildren and Skolomendov’s great-grandchildren ... [1]"

In the Kirillo-Belozersky list:

"Saying Andrei to his brother Dmitry: “I myself have two brothers, the children of Volyardov, the grandchildren of the Yedimentovs, the great-grandchildren of the Skoldimerovs ... [2]"

There is no other news of Skolomend or of any other Gedimin’s father. In the Lyubetsk synodic , a certain prince Gamant (Gimont) is mentioned, possibly identical to Skolomendu. According to the Nikon Chronicle, Andrian Titovich, Prince of Zvenigorod, was married to the daughter of Gamant Elena. It is believed that Andrian Titovich and Andrian Mstislavich Kozelsky , known from the Voskresensky annals , are one and the same person [3] [4] . It is noteworthy that according to the inventory of the property of Metropolitan Feognost, Prince Andrian Mstislavich Kozelsky was married to Gedimin’s sister or daughter [5] .

According to a number of researchers [6] , Skolomend is identical to the prince Skalmant ( born Skomantas of Sudovia), known from the Chronicle of the Land of Prussia by Peter von Dusburg [7] .
