Etymology
Kurdamir region, which is part of the Aran Economic Region, as a center was established in 1930 .
There is an assumption that the name Kurdamir comes from the words “Kur” and “Damir” (in the Shirvan dialect, the word “Kur” is used for the meaning of eloquent, courageous, valiant, and by the word “Damir” was meant the leader of seven settlements based in this region Damir). According to another version, it is assumed that the name Kurdamir is derived from the words “Kur Daimir”, that is, not suffering disasters during the floods of the Kura River. Subsequently, the letter "th" was assimilated, and the name of the territory was transformed into "Kurdamir."
