Content
Geography
Atyuryevsky district is located in the west of the Republic of Mordovia . The region borders on Temnikovskiy in the north, Zubovo-Polyanskiy in the west, Krasnoslobodskiy in the east, Torbeevskiy in the southwest, and the Kovylkinsky districts of Mordovia in the southeast.
The eastern part of the region is located in the forest-steppes of the secondary moraine plain, the western part is in landscapes of mixed forests of glacial lowland glacial forests. Forests cover an area of 9,475 hectares and are located mainly in the northwestern part of the district, in Mord. Kozlovsky, Kisalinsky, Strelnikovsky and Arginsky rural Councils. The tree stand is dominated by pine, spruce, oak, maple, linden, birch, aspen, alder. In the shrub layer: juniper, wolf's bast, dog rose, rowan, viburnum, bird cherry, hazelnut, yellow acacia. The forest is rich in medicinal plants (lily of the valley, plantain, St. John's wort, coltsfoot, medunitsa, sage, oregano, etc.). In the forests of the area grow all the mushrooms characteristic of the European part of the country. These are boletus, butter pan, camelina, honey agaric, mushroom, boletus, etc. Of berries it should be noted strawberries, raspberries , wild currants, lingonberries, blackberries .
The fauna is typical for the republic: badger, squirrel, wolf, hare, wild boar, marten, fox, elk; of birds are goose, duck, crane, bullfinch, cuckoo, woodpecker, nightingale, hawk, etc. Grouse, black grouse, hazel grouses are preserved in secluded places, but few of them remain.
The area occupies the watershed area of the Moksha (east) and Vada (west) rivers, which flow outside the area. Within the region there are small rivers - Yavas , Lyacha , Shustrui and several small rivers.
The following types of soils are widespread in the district: sod-podzolic, gray forest podzolized, chernozem, flood plain. From minerals - peat, clay, loam. In terms of physiography, the area is part of the Central Moscow Basin (southeastern part of the area) and is a relatively flat, slightly rising from the north-east direction platform.
- Climate
The climate is moderately continental, characterized by relatively cold winters and moderately hot summers. The number of days per year with snow cover is 148. The average depth of soil freezing is 65 cm. Usually, by April 10, fields are completely free from snow.
History
The Atyuryevsky district of the MASSR was formed by a Resolution of the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on May 10, 1937. The formation of the Atyuryevsky district promoted the development of the economic and cultural life of the villages and villages of the district.

By the law of May 26, 2014 No. 37-W, the Free-Nikolskoye rural settlement and the village council of the same name were abolished, and the settlements that were part of them were included in the Kurtashkinsky rural settlement and village council with the administrative center in the village of Kurtashki [14] .
By law of May 17, 2018 N 34-З, Arginskoye rural settlement and the village council of the same name were abolished, and their settlements were included in the Kamensky rural settlement and village council with the administrative center in the village of Kamenka [15] .

- Abolished populated areas
On September 13, 2007, they were excluded from the registration data of the village of Lesnaya of the Arginsky Village Council, Kurilovka of the Novochadovsky Village Council, Safarovka of the Bolsheshstruysky Village Council and the village of Shaly of the Arginsky Village Council [16] .
Education
There are 12 secondary schools, 10 secondary schools and 8 primary schools, a music school, a sports school for children, and 15 kindergartens. Medical care is provided by 2 hospitals and 29 medical stations. In the region there are 24 houses of culture and rural clubs, 20 libraries, a cinema. In the regional center of Atyuryevo (population - more than 4,700 people) today there are two high schools, the School of Creativity of Schoolchildren, Sports School, a music school, a sports and recreation complex.
Economy
Agricultural area (agricultural). The main directions are the production of grain, potatoes, milk, meat and wool. Of the total area of 72658 ha under arable land, 44504 ha are occupied. There are 15 agricultural production cooperatives based on the former 9 collective farms and 6 state farms. Every year the number of farms increases.
There are no large industrial enterprises in the district. Atyurevskiy self-supporting construction site "Mordovgrazhdanstroy", Atyuryevskoye RSU "Remstroyzhilbyt", two road construction enterprises, self-supporting construction site "Spetsselstroy".
