The Nizhnekamsky tram is the tram network of the city of Nizhnekamsk , one of the last tram systems created in the USSR and Russia . In Tatarstan, the network is inferior to the tram systems of Naberezhnye Chelny and the capital of the republic, Kazan, by the length of lines and the number of cars, but it has a greater number of routes than in Kazan. The creation of a high-traffic urban transport network was caused by the need to provide large passenger flows between the residential areas of the city and the newly built remote and extensive industrial site of the Nizhnekamskneftekhim , Nizhnekamskshina production complex, CHP , and then also the remote Krasniy Klyuch settlement with the river station, port and beaches located there. The opening of the tram movement took place in 1967. The system operator is GUP Electroelectric Transport, which serves this unique type of electric transport in the city.

Infrastructure
The length of the tracks in single track is 63 km. In topological terms, the network is centralized both within residential areas of the city and outside of them, with many kilometers of departure lines leading to significantly remote industrial site and river station.
A significant part of the routes, including part of the lines within the residential areas and all the departure lines, are marked out and not in the center, but on the side of the highways. Due to this, as well as a considerable length of departure lines with non-stop traffic and a number of junctions on highways, in many parts of the speed of movement and the whole system as a whole is close to the high-speed tram .
There is one depot and a small supporting fleet.
Development Perspectives
In connection with the large-scale development of new microdistricts of Nizhnekamsk, industrial construction, the issue of the development of a socially-oriented transport scheme of the city is particularly relevant. One of the best solutions is the construction of a new tram line on South Street.
This line is provided for by the general plan of the city of Nizhnekamsk and is included in the existing tram network at the intersection of Chemists Avenue and Stroiteley Avenue.
The total length of the tramway line is 3.9 km (including: 0.8 km along Prospekt Stroiteley and 3.1 km along Prospect Mira to Yuzhnaya St.).
The total estimated cost of construction is 252 million rubles, including the cost:
- design work - 2 million rubles.
- construction of modular traction substation number 15 - 50 million rubles.
- construction of the tram track and contact network - 154.6 million rubles.
- acquisitions of 3 trams - 45 million rubles.
As a result of the construction of the new line, it will be possible to organize new routes:
- Southern - Thermal Power Station −2 - Southern
- South - Forest - South
- South - Red Key - South
- South - OJSC NKSH - South
- South - DEPOT - South
