The USSR State Committee for Science and Technology ( SCST of the USSR ) is the USSR state government body that conducted state policy in the field of scientific and technical activity.

History
- It was founded in 1948 by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. It was liquidated from December 1, 1991 on the basis of the Resolution of the USSR State Council of November 14, 1991 [3] .
Tasks
- The SCST of the USSR was entrusted with determining the main directions of development of science and technology, planning and organizing the development of the most important scientific and technical problems of national importance, organizing the introduction of discoveries, inventions and search research results into production.
- The SCST of the USSR oversaw the State Register of Scientific Discoveries of the USSR .
- The SCST of the USSR participated in the preparation of plans for financing R&D and the development of the material base of science.
The work of the department was coordinated with the Ministry of Finance of the USSR , the State Bank of the USSR and the State Treasury of the USSR , the State Planning Committee of the USSR , the State Committee for Labor of the USSR .
