Shreshthavarman II is a semi-historic-semi-legendary ruler of Chenla (about 495 - about 530 [1] ; according to other sources, 555-560). The son and successor of Shrutavarman .
It is believed that he founded the new capital, calling it by its name: Sreshthapura (Crestapura). According to a Chinese source, it was located at the foot of Mount Lingaparvat, on the territory of present-day Southern Laos (Bassak province) [1] , at the foot of the Wat Phou ensemble, the center of Shaivaism.
