It was founded as the village of Burdina no later than the middle of the 17th century by peasant odnodvortsy. Later, by decree of Catherine, Smolensk peasants were settled here; they received lands in Terbuny and neighboring Burdin, as it turned out to be distant and uncomfortable. Later, part of the Smolensk population was forced to resettle from Burdin and form the village of Golopuzovka (now Khutor-Beryozovka ).
In 1790, the Church of the Ascension of the Lord was built in Burdino [2] (now
architectural monument (regional) ). With her on October 15, 1865, the first parish school was opened and at first acted as a two-year school. Here the Preobrazhensky male cave monastery existed, and then a female one. The man’s monastery was bred for the state under the Empress Elizabeth Petrovna . Now on the site of the Transfiguration of the Savior Monastery there is a quarry, now a specially protected natural area, a geological monument listed in geology textbooks.
Until May 28, 2008, Burdino was the center of the Burdinsky rural settlement (formerly the village council), which became part of the Terbunsky Second Village Settlement.
