Formed on March 1, 1943 by transforming the 23rd Infantry Division .

Participated in the Battle of Kursk (southern face of the Kursk Bulge ), the liberation of Left-Bank Ukraine, Operation Bagration, the Vitebsk-Orsha Offensive, Šiauliai, Riga and Memel Offensive. She ended the war, blocking the grouping of enemy troops on the Courland Peninsula .

She participated in the liberation of Vitebsk , Polotsk , Dvinsk , forced the Western Dvina .
