Club career

Melchiot began on the Ajax youth team, then spent three seasons on the first team, winning the championship in 1998 and the Netherlands Cup in 1998 and 1999 . In the summer of 1999, he moved to Chelsea . With “retirees,” Melchiot won the FA Cup in 2000 .

In July 2004, he signed a three-year contract with Birmingham City [1] . Mario made his debut for the “blue” in the match against Portsmouth , which ended with the score 1: 1 [2] .
