To reduce the impact of loads applied to the breech and bipod , the barrel in front of the flue gas assembly is placed in a steel perforated casing, completely hidden inside the plastic forearm. The pistol grip and the side-folding metal butt are similar to those of the SVD-S, with the exception of the increased area of the rubber butt plate. Bayonet fastening is not provided [1] . The flame arrester is replaceable, the disassembly procedure is somewhat simpler relative to the SVD-S by eliminating the need to shift the front ring to separate the barrel linings and disassemble the gas engine.
