Biography

The exact date of birth is unknown. The first mention occurs in 1390 , when Alexander was among those who met Metropolitan Cyprian , who was invited to Tver.

In 1399, together with his father, he received Tver and a number of other cities from his grandfather Mikhail Alexandrovich , but Prince Ivan Mikhailovich carried out his rule independently.

In 1402, became the specific prince of Kholm (after Prince Ivan Vsevolodovich ). Later, he began to take a noticeable part in the political events of that time. In 1403, on behalf of his father, he went with Tver regiments to Kashin and took possession of it. On behalf of his father, he met with Vitovt ( 1404 and 1411 ).

After the death of Grand Duke Ivan Mikhailovich, Alexander Ivanovich inherited the Grand Duchy of Tver, however, on October 25, 1425, he died after a five-month reign, presumably from the plague that was raging at that time in Russia.

Family

In 1397, he married the daughter of Molozhsky (a branch of the Yaroslavl princes) Prince Fedor Mikhailovich , whose name is not known. He had three children in marriage.

  • Yaroslav (died in 1435 ) - Prince of Gorodets .
  • Yuri (died in 1426) - Grand Duke of Tver.
  • Boris (died in 1461 ) is the Grand Duke of Tver.
