Vineh’s reign began extremely unsuccessfully due to the second campaign of Emperor Constantine V against Bulgaria. The emperor moved the ground forces and a fleet of 500 ships, with which he carried out the landing, which devastated the Bulgarian region. Khan Vineh decided to meet the Byzantines at the Markeli fortress, not far from modern Karnobat , but his troops fled and Vineh had to send his children to Constantinople as hostages to ensure peace.
In 759 , Emperor Constantine V launched his third campaign against Bulgaria, but his troops were defeated in the aisles of the Balkans - many noble Byzantines were killed:
| Meanwhile, the king went to war in Bulgaria and when he was near Beregava, in the gorges, the Bulgarians came out to meet him, beat many of his soldiers, and among other things, Leon the patrician and the military commander of Thracian and other Leon the hippodrome counter and many others, took possession of their weapons, and with such disgrace the Romans returned. However, such a triumph briefly strengthened the reign of Vineh. Probably because of the desire for peace, as a result of the coup, he and his whole family were killed, and the young and warlike Khan Taurus ascended the throne:
| The Bulgarians were indignant against their masters, who had descended from one generation, killed them and placed them in the rulers of a malevolent husband, named Teletchina, who was about thirty years old. [one] |
