Ismen ( dr. Greek Ἰσμηνός ) is a river god in ancient Greek mythology. The son of Asopus and Metope (or the son of Ocean and Tethys [1] ). Arrived in Boeotia and settled by the river named after him [2] . Dirka ’s father [3] . Father of the nymph, grandfather of Krenaeus, protector of Thebes . He tried to drown Hippomedont [4] . Mentioned by Pindar in the hymn to Zeus for the Thebans [5] .
