Background
After 1204, the Byzantine Empire was split into several parts: most of the land was occupied by the Latins and Venetians, a smaller part remained with the Greeks .
Taking advantage of the weaknesses of the new states, the enemies of the former empire became more active: the Bulgarians began to attack the Latins in order to tear off some territories, the Serbs became more active, and the Turks began to capture in Asia Minor.
One of the first objects of expansion of the Turks was the city of Trebizond - the easternmost possession of Byzantium.
Fighting
The siege began in 1205 . However, even in 1206, Trebizond was never taken; the Turks concentrated their attention on the war with the Nicene Empire and were defeated.
