Biography
Born in the southern part of the village of Grand Bay, Commonwealth of Dominica on September 9, 1934 . Married, has five children. He graduated from elementary school. Subsequently, he began to move on - he studied and, upon reaching a certain age, concentrated all his attention on political activity.
In 1957, Liverpool entered Hull University and received a bachelor of law degree (with honors) in 1960 . In 1961, he was admitted as a barrister to the Law Society of London's Inner Temple. He conducted research at Sheffield University since 1962 and in 1965 received a Ph.D. in law.
In March 1998, he was appointed ambassador to the United States of America. Consular experience played an important role in the subsequent professional activities of Liverpool and strengthened its reputation in the homeland. In 2003, the president of the Commonwealth of Dominica - Vernon Shaw (who headed the state from October 6, 1998 to October 1, 2003 ) - appointed his successor, which was Liverpool. He was rightly considered worthy of a new high-ranking post. Nicholas Liverpool perfectly matched the rules of the state constitution of 1978 .
Nicholas was elected as president on October 2, 2003 . His candidacy was accepted by the heads of the existing ruling party and the opposition structure as well. The elections were held by secret ballot. The president’s powers include the signing of various laws, the approval of government officials to senior posts and other actions of national importance. September 17, 2012 resigned due to health problems [3] .
