Eustathius is mentioned in Eunapius ' Life of the Philosophers and Sophists. Eustathius was a relative of Edessa. He was distinguished by nobleness and such extraordinary eloquence that Emperor Constantius II entrusted him with negotiations with the Persian king. Eustathius unusually wisely interpreted the oracles , and his wife Sosipatra was distinguished by the same wisdom. [one]
