Content
History
The funicular is built on the initiative of Alish Lemberansky . Opened on May 5, 1960. The carriages were built at the Leningrad VARZ . The main designer of the funicular - Arakelov Radchik Avakovich .
In 2001, a major overhaul repair was carried out at the Baku Funicular. Another repair was carried out in 2007. The use of modern technologies in the repair allowed to eliminate the noise from the rails when the car was moving.
By the beginning of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012, the Austrian-Swiss company Doppelmayr Garaventa reconstructed the funicular. [one]
The plans of the Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan and the Baku Mayor's Office include the modernization of the Baku Funicular and its extension.
